What is Mineral Water?
When you come to Bonneville Hot Springs Resort
& Spa, not only are you going to soak in the mineral waters,
you’ll also find yourself drinking chilled mineral water from the
source. Don’t worry. It’s safe. Minerals and trace elements are
vital components of all living beings: people, animal and plants.
There are three primary functions that minerals perform:
1. Minerals, like calcium, strengthen bones and skeletal tissues.
2. Minerals and trace elements work as important catalysts for healthy
chemical reactions, metabolic functions of cells, maintain PH balance
and stimulate osmosis. Through osmotic pressure, beneficial minerals
impact cellular metabolism. This action promotes detoxification,
the breakdown of lipids or fats and stimulates a healthy chemical
exchange.
3. Minerals impact the beneficial function and role of vitamins,
such as calcium allowing for better absorption of vitamin C.
Even in ancient times, Spas and healing centers would grow up around
mineral water sites because of the waters healing powers. When you
drink the mineral-enriched waters, you’re taking in some of the
best stuff Mother Nature has to offer your body. The water at Bonneville
Hot Springs contains sulfur in the form of sulfates, silica, calcium,
iron, potassium, magnesium, sodium, and carbonate. Combined, it’s
the perfect remedy for joint inflammation, exfoliation, bone density,
allergies, and more.
Just for clarification, the U.S. FDA classifies mineral water as
“containing at least 250 parts per million total dissolved solids
(TDS), and is also water coming from a source tapped at one or more
bore holes or springs, originating from a geologically and physically
protected underground water source.” At Bonneville, no minerals
are added to the water. It’s pure, health-enriched, naturally wonderful
water that you’ll find invigorating and relaxing all at once.
